When I first heard about the The House of the Devil, my heart skipped a beat. I thought, “This could be the movie! This could save horror from the Michael Bays of the world!” Naturally, I was excited. I found the earliest opportunity to go see this apparent salvation of the horror genre.

THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL Review
Wednesday, October 28, 2009 8:49 AM | From Spout Blog
Ti Wests The House of the Devil finds its sweet spot in the paranoid shadow of misdirection, so its best not to reveal much of the plot beyond what youll know from watching the trailer: its the 80s, and a sleepy college town is obsessed with an impeding eclipse, and a young, pretty co-ed in [...]

Some early online buzz piqued my interest enough to check out Ti West's The House of the Devil, a horror film I went into assuming it was a throwback haunted house tale, but that's not really the case. While the film is a throwback to 1980s [...]

For fans of indie horror it seems like Texas is really the place to be. With guys like Mel House working on films back to back you have a lot to look forward to. Closet Space was really his first work to make some noise awhile back but it still hasn't landed any kind of domestic release. Hopefully soon that will change but according to House no time this year.
However when speaking with Dread Cen...

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Bourne Trilogy, and now…The Big Momma’s House Trilogy. Finally, the epic comedy franchise has threequel in the works. As you doubtless already know, the original film inspired millions. Embedded below is an aspiring thespian…
When you hear that Daniel Craig has gotten involved with a Dream House from a company like Morgan Creek, the layman would assume that the housing market has begun to pick up. Not so, as Dream House is actually a psychological thriller.
Daniel Craig for Dream House
Directed by Jim Sheridan off a script by David Loucka, Dream House will have Craig play a New York publishing exec who relocates his family to a small New England town only to learn that their new home was the scene of a vicious murder. If you recognize the direction, you should, it's probably because he has been nominated for six Oscars for his previous films including My Left Foot, which won Daniel Day-Lewis an Oscar, and In The Name of the Father.
Like a fine, 80s, VHS case sitting on your local video store’s shelf just screaming out for you to rent it, the poster for Ti West’s ‘House of the Devil’ comes our way today. Courtesy of Vulture, this poster has everything a good horror poster should have. Creepy font. A scary house. A image of a battered heroine. A simple yet effect tagline. Not to mention the film is being released by Magnet who, thus far, has been batting a thousand. This looks like it could be one of the better horror films to come our way this Fall.
