Hey Gang! I got a little film clip to show you from ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’. It is our very first look at Dominic Monaghan in the film as a mutant named Bolt who is an electrical-powered mutant. He was original announced as playing the role of Barnell ‘Beak’ Bohusk who was a mutant who developed [...]
Check Out Dominic Monaghan As The Mutant Bolt In New X-Men Origins: Wolverine Scene!
First, actor Dominic Monaghan was Beak, and now he’s Bolt — and finally, we get a good look at him in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”
20th Century Fox raised some eyebrows when Monaghan was first announced in the role of Barnell “Beak” Bohusk in this week’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” A mutant who developed feathers and various [...]
During one of our weekly Hookers, Booze, Weed and Other Assorted Business meetings, we were discussing the possible appearance of a certain Cannabis plant in Disney's recent animated BOLT. At first we thought perhaps it was our own reaction to a certain Cannabis plant that was making us see this but on closer inspection, perhaps not. Below you'll find a screencap of a scene in which the possible leaf shows up. Yeah?...

Studios should make it a point to send me all their CG-animations on Blu-ray, as I'm so wowed by the medium on the HD-format that I rarely seem to dislike a title. The same holds true for Bolt, which is one of the best-looking CG blu-rays to date.
Blu-Ray Review: Bolt
While Fred thought the strong clarity of Bolt made it look fake, I found that the look perfectly fit the medium. Can a picture be too clear? Then I guess the upcoming Laser TVs have no future. Yes, the HD video is exceptionally clear on my 32" Sharp Aquos, though I've seen better sharpness. For something as detailed and clear as Bolt, objects and characters didn't stand off the background as well as they should have. But I'll let that slide, as the picture is still excellent and very vibrant.
The clear picture does show Disney's attention to detail. Especially in the city, where one can pay attention to all the finer details of the setting including decay, scratches, dents and rust.
I managed to avoid Bolt entirely in its theatrical release. The press screening was on my birthday so I got out of it. I suppose as a tentpole Blu Ray release I’m going to have to give it a shot. At least CGI animation is going to look awesome in hi-def, right?
Blu-Ray Review: Bolt
Actually, I find Bolt to look a little fake. Obviously, it’s not real, but let me explain. These CG animation movies are usually packed with dense detail to sell the “reality” of even the most heightened worlds. Mediocre films like Madagascar can look incredible, but Oscar-nominated Bolt is lacking that extra oomph.
It’s almost like there’s too much polish. It’s too rounded and shiny.

I love today's three categories because they can often feature the most interesting films of the year. Even when a movie doesn't have a chance at Best Picture, its originality may be rewarded in the screenplay category, or in the case of this year, Best Animated Feature. And this year, if my calculations are correct, my favorite film of the year may take home two of the following awards. Believe it!
Best Animated Feature
Wall-E
Bolt
Kung Fu Panda
Bolt ...

Brian Grazer has announced that he’s producing Lowriders, a drama set in the world of, uh… lowriders.
The project is based on an idea by Grazer. He was intrigued by the low-riding culture, which sees mainly teens driving cars that can adjust or have adjusted their [...]
