"Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" trailer disappointing.

Thursday, November 19, 2009 11:48 AM | From MovieJungle

The first trailer for the follow-up to the cult hit "Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" has hit the web. Are we excited? No. The trailer is lacklustre showing a badly assembled film with a cast only flattered by the likes of Billy Connolly, Clifton Collins Jr. and Julie Benz. We wish it luck.

The first film opened over nine years ago, making very little in theatres but quietly carving out a big fan base. The aging is most apparent on co-star Sean Patrick Flannery who looks astoundingly different to the first film.

Troy Duffy directs from his own writing. The film was shot in Ontario, Canada and opens on November 1st but, in all honesty, should be sent straight to video.

Check out the video here.

The Boondock Saints 2 Expands Nationwide

Tuesday, November 3, 2009 8:57 PM | From /Film
Apparition and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group have announced that they have decided to expand The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day "nationwide to additional markets" on November 13th 2009. The film grossed over $500,000 this past weekend in just four markets: New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and Philadelphia, with a per theater average of over $8,000. Because of the demand/fan base, the studio has announced that they will be opening the movie wider on November 13 to additional cities including Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, and more. The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is the much-anticipated sequel to the indie cult classic, The Boondock Saints. The film is the continuation of writer/director Troy Duffys tough, stylized cutting edge saga of the MacManus brothers (Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery). The two have been in deep hiding with their father, Il Duce (Billy Connolly), in the quiet valleys ... Read Article

Review: The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day

Friday, October 30, 2009 10:14 AM | From Cinematical

The original Boondock Saints was relegated to video store shelves before most would-be fans had an inkling it had passed them by in theaters. But eventually, chances are one night a friend would suggest watching this weird, violent movie about hot twin brothers with a serious gun fetish, Catholic complex, and Latin tattoos, and you'd pass the word along. Basically, Murphy MacManus (Norman Reedus) and Connor MacManus (Sean Patrick Flanery) were blue-collar Irish guys who decided that they'd had enough of the scum on the streets and began wiping them out in various creative ways, although their favorite weapons were and remain the gun. Their buddy Rocco, a mob errand boy, was the de facto third Saint. Meanwhile, they're being tracked by a very odd FBI agent by the name of Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe in a fabulously bizarre performance) and three bumbling local cops. And then there's Il Duce (Billy Connolly), the infamous assassin who's finally paroled from prison.

Ten years later, the Saints are in Ireland with Il Duce, aka their dad, when the word comes that someone in Boston killed a priest they knew and tried to make it look like the Saints did it. Game on. The boys shed their woolly sweaters and their long hair and beards and return to Boston.

UPDATES

Tuesday, October 27, 2009 11:21 AM | From Celluloid & Cigarette Burns

Woody Allen's next film finally has a title and somewhat of a synopsis. It will be titled You Will Met A Tall Dark Stranger and it revolves around different members of a family, their tangled love lives and their attempts to try to solve their problems. The film will be released sometime in 2010.

Broken Lizard's Slammin' Salmon is getting a December release date.

Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) and Betty (Mad Med) will star alongside Liam Neeson (A-Team) in Unknown White Male.

Paramount Pictures is considering on making a sequel to Paranormal Activity.

Sly Stallone has revealed plans to make Rocky VII after Rambo V. The film could be a drama focused on Rocky growing old. I have a feeling this film won't involve a boxing match.

Billy Connolly (Boondock Saints) says he might have a role in Troy Duffy's next film The Good King.

Shane Black (Lethal Weapon series) is writing a new Doc Savage film. Based on the pulp comics of the 30s and 40s.

Plans for a Saw 7 & 8 have been made official and Jigsaw star Toben Bell wants a shot at directing. I'm shocked how Twisted Pictures hasn't asked Saw 7 helmer to return.

Starting in November you'll be able to instantly view Netflix rentals via your Playstation 3. Another move to edge out other competitive video game consoles.

More goodies for all the hardcore Boondock Saints fans out there. MTV has debuted the official poster for the sequel we thought we'd never see - Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. It's not an exact copy, but it looks strikingly similar to the original Boondock Saints poster seen here (at least with the two guys holding guns). Obviously they're trying to get everyone who even saw the original to take an interest in the sequel. And if they keep promoting it that way, they may turn this into another cult classic. That is, if it's actually a good movie. Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, Billy Connolly and David Della Rocco are all returning. If you haven't seen it, the first official trailer for Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is online right here. Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is once again both written and directed by the crazy Troy Duffy, ... Read Article

New Pics From Boondock and Centurian!

Monday, October 5, 2009 2:35 PM | From Latino Review
Both of these films have back stories, while one is just a mystery the actual plot deals with and the other lives on in college dorm rooms where young men are still obsessed with Tarantino/Woo violence.First up, Centurion, the new flick from Neil Marshall, the director of Descent and Doomsday. The plot of Centurion deal with the "lost" Ninth Legion of Caesars Roman Army. Though the historical truth of the Ninth Legion is somewhat vague from historical writings and architectural markings, but the period this film concerns itself is after the "disappearance" of the Ninth Legion around 117 AD. When Marcus Aurelius made a list of all active Legions somewhere between 161-180, the Ninth was not included.Centurion supposes that the Ninth were stationed north of Hadrian's Wall, a Roman border built across England. The film is structured more like a western, with the Legion battling the barbaric Pics and trying to get out of Pic country.Centurion stars Michael Fassbender and Wire-vet Dominic West. Click the pic of Fassbender and Liam Cunningham below to see more from Empire, or you could wait until next August when the film is released, but why wait?   Also part of Monday's pic-a-palooza is the new poster from Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day, the sequel to Troy Duffy's 1999 cult hit. If you haven't heard of Boondock Saints, you're in the majority, but the less-violent majority. It's not that Boondock Saints isn't a good film, it just makes a lot of freshman mistakes and was out-dated in its style when it came out in a post-Matrix world. Duffy's been spinning his wheels on a sequel and finally got traction, adding Clifton Collins Jr and Dexter's Julie Bentz to returning players Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, Billy Connolly and David Della Rocco. The sequel will see the brothers return to Boston to avenge a murdered priest. Click on the brand spankin' new poster to be taken to MTV and see some stills. Including one that spoils a Kim Cattrell cameo...which makes me confused.   Source: Empire/MTV Read Article

Giving The Bear and the Bow a Shot

Thursday, September 10, 2009 6:00 PM | From Latino Review
During a presentation in London today, John Lasster, the chief creative officer at Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, shared trailers and tidits about their upcoming projects. And while it's no secret that Pixar has been notably bereft of lead female characters, that's about to change with The Bear and the Bow. Directed by Brenda Chapman (The Prince of Egypt), the upcoming CG film will feature the voice talents of Reese Witherspoon (Monsters vs. Aliens) as a 10th-century Scottish princess named Merida, who would rather become an archer running through the Highlands than don a dress and entertain the court. Other cast details include Billy Connolly (The Last Samurai) as King Fergus, Emma Thompson (Stranger Than Fiction) as Queen Elanor, and Julie Walters (Becoming Jane) as the antagonist known as the "Wise Woman." Though it's tempting to roll one's eyes at yet another female lead character that's a princess -- especially coming from Disney-owned Pixar now -- the movie is already displaying a refreshing change of pace by reportedly focusing more on the princess' relationship with her mother than the quest to find a prince. Even the inclusion of a non-evil queen is a big step for animated features which, often based upon Grimm's fairytales, overwhelmingly feature evil stepmothers and the like. While only early concept art was shown at the event, Empire Online reports that it was indeed gorgeous. See what else they had to say by clicking over to the source.   Source: Empire Online Read Article

Boondock Saints II trailer online

Wednesday, September 2, 2009 11:07 PM | From Total Film

It's dodgy accents a go go as Troy Duffy's Boondock Saints trailer has launched a red band trailer.

Ten years after his meteoric rise and equally swift fall, Duffy has returned to the McManus crime clan for another bout of blood, guts, bullets and quick camera moves.

Back are the main gang - Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus and proud/violent pop Billy Connolly, alongside some new arrivals, including Julie Benz as the kick-ass Eunice Bloom.

Check out the trailer below - it's red band thanks to some violence and sweary language - and let us know your thoughts…
