Inexpilcable American Gladiators Movie Gets A Writer
Friday, November 20, 2009 8:12 AM | From Cinema Blend
It remains a mystery how the ultimate cheeseball game show American Gladiators will be turned into a movie, but screenwriter Peter Iliff apparently has an answer for us. According to Variety he's been hired to write the bigscreen American Gladiators movie, which will feature all those old familiar characters like Turbo and Blaze, but turn them into superheroes.
Because, obviously, inventing new superheroes out of meathead TV competitors is a good idea. I love American Gladiators as much as the ...
A Christmas Carol Soundtrack

A Christmas Carol soundtrack. That Ebenezer Scrooge, what a downright nasty piece of work. No, were not talking the before Scrooge here. Nothing wrong at all with being a tight-fisted miser. If wed had a few more of them then…

Rumor: Zemeckis Following Christmas Carol with The Nutcracker
Robert Zemeckis' latest CGI feature, A Christmas Carol, is currently playing and seems to be bringing in the cash, as expected. Whereas Zemeckis used to be an amazing filmmaker, he's now become our bi-yearly deliverer of a fantastical 3D CGI version of some beloved holiday story. First it was The Polar Express, this year it's A Christmas Carol, so what's up next after that? Pajiba claims that Zemeckis will eventually be adapting The Nutcracker as well, but it's not clear if that'll come before or after he remakes The Beatles' Yellow Submarine. Whatever the case, I'm not excited, despite my love for these wonderful holiday stories.
They also say that similar to A Christmas Carol (which was a direct adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel), Zemeckis' Nutcracker won't be an adaptation of the Tchaikovsky ballet, but rather an adaptation of E.T.A. Hoffmann's original 1816 novel, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, remaining ...
Okay, as lame as that may have been, there’s not denying how cool this first shot is from George Clooney’s upcoming film, THE AMERICAN. It comes to us today courtesy of Collider, who had a man out at the American Film Market last week to snag up images just like this one.
In the film, Clooney plays a skilled assassin. After a botched job, a lover ends up dead, and the assassin vows that his next job will be his last. It could very well be just that, as he finds himself letting his guard down.

A Christmas Carol tops the US box office
Monday, November 9, 2009 5:40 AM | From Total Film
Robert Zemeckis pumped the Christmas spirit into US moviegoers a few weeks early, as A Christmas Carol led the box office with $31 million.
The new arrival moved Michael Jackson concert film This Is It down to second place with $14 million, but it's sill on track to become the top-earning music gig-based movie of all time.
The Men Who Stare At Goats launched to a decent but unspectacular $13.3 million, while The Fourth Kind abducted $12.5 million in, er, fourth. Fifth place went to Paranormal Activity, which added $8.6 million to its total and will likely pass $100 million by the end of next weekend. There wasn't much good news for Richard Kelly's The Box -it could only manage a sixth place arrival and $7.8 million.
Here, then, the top 10 for the weekend…
A Christmas Carol ($31 million) This Is It ($14 million) The Men Who Stare At Goats ($13.3 million) The Fourth Kind ($12.5 million) Paranormal Activity ($8.6 million) The Box ($7.9 million) Couples Retreat ($6.4 million) Law Abiding Citizen ($6.1 million) Where The Wild Things Are ($4.2 million) Astro Boy ($2.6 million)
Jim Carrey's "A Christmas Carol" took in an estimated $31 million at the domestic box office this weekend. The film ended up in first place, but underperformed, since it cost $200 million to make. Walt Disney Pictures is hoping that as we near Christmas, "Carol" will pick up the pace.
