Read the phone conference with "My Own Worst Enemy" star Christian Slater!

Slater talks about playing to characters in the same body - Edward, an operative who speaks multiple languages and Henry, a married man (to Madchen Amick). He talks about his favorite actors in the spy genre, the show's twists and turns as well as the projects he is most proud of in his career.

The show has its series premiere on Monday, October 13th on NBC at 10/9C. Jason Smilovic ("Lucky Number Slevin") is the executive producer. David Semel directs for Universal Media Studios.

What's the show about?

Henry (Slater) is a middle-class efficiency expert living a humdrum life in the suburbs with his wife, Angie (Madchen Amick), their two kids, a dog, and a minivan, Edward (Slater) is an operative who speaks nine languages, runs a four-minute mile, and is trained to kill. Albright works at Janus Headquarters for Mavis Hellar (Alfre Woodard), a tough, extremely intelligent woman with a hidden compassionate side. Henry and Edward are polar opposites who share only one thing in common - the same body. When the carefully constructed wall between them breaks down, Henry and Edward are thrust into unfamiliar territory where each man is dangerous out of his element.

The film based is on true events in the midst of the 2000 election. AMERICAN VIOLET tells the astonishing story of Dee Roberts, a 24 year-old African American single mother of four young girls barely making ends meet while living in a small Texas town. Dee soon finds herself charged as a drug dealer after the powerful local district attorney (Academy Award® nominee Michael OKeefe) leads an extensive drug bust, sweeping her Arlington Springs housing project.

Even though Dee has no prior drug record and no drugs were found on her in the raid or any subsequent searches and her indictment is based on the word of a single and dubious police informant facing his own drug charges - Dee must make a life-altering decision: Does she plead guilty and go home as a convicted felon or remain in prison and fight the charges thus, jeopardizing her custody and risking a long prison sentence?

"American Violet" - New clips added!

Thursday, April 2, 2009 2:56 AM | From MovieJungle
We have seven new clips in from Samuel Goldwyn Films' drama "American Violet," starring Alfre Woodard, Nicole Beharie, Tim Blake Nelson, Michael O'Keefe and Charles S. Dutton. Release is set for April 17th in limited locations. Tim Disney ("Blessed Art Thou") directs the film from the writing by Bill Haney.

What's "American Violet" about?

Set in the midst of the 2000 presidential election, AMERICAN VIOLET tells the story of Dee Roberts (Nicole Beharie), a 24 year-old African-American single mother of four, living in a small Texas town (based after Hearne, Texas where the real incident took place). One day, while Dee is working a shift at the local diner, the powerful local district attorney (Michael O'Keefe) leads a drug bust, sweeping Dees housing project. Police drag Dee from work in handcuffs, dumping her in the womens county prison. Indicted based on the uncorroborated word of a single and dubious police informant facing his own drug charges, Dee soon discovers she has been charged as a drug dealer.

Even though Dee has no prior drug record and no drugs were found on her in the raid or any subsequent searches, she is offered a hellish choice: plead guilty and go home as a convicted felon or remain in prison and fight the charges thus, jeopardizing her custody and risking a long prison sentence. Despite the urgings of her mother (Alfre Woodard), and with her freedom and the custody of her children at stake, she chooses to fight the district attorney. Joined in an unlikely alliance with an ACLU attorney (Tim Blake Nelson) and a former local narcotics officer (Will Patton), Dee risks everything in a battle that forever changes her life and the Texas justice system.
