Description

Trailer for East Meets West.

East Meets West almost defies description, but here goes: Sammi (superstar singer actress Karen Mok, vamping up a charismatic storm) is mad at her dad (1980s HK pop idol and leading man Kenny Bee, playing a wonderfully knowing, self-mocking version of himself) for dallying with her former classmate (mainland bombshell Huang Yi). When said classmate is abducted for failing to pay her debts by devilishly handsome businessman Charles (suave HK singing star Eason Chan), Sammi persuades Kenny to hold a benefit concert (naturally), featuring the members of his washed-up old band (played by the actual members of Bee’s old HK pop band, Wynners). They and scads of other Hong Kong stars--Ekin Cheng as a doughy pastry man, Jaycee Chan as a smarmy dad-obsessed lackey (he’s Jackie Chan’s son in real life)--miraculously survive a car accident because... they are reincarnations of Heavenly Immortals, sort of Buddhist cosmic superheroes, locked in cosmic battle with fire-breathing evil.
