Named “Best Restaurant in the World” last year by Restaurant Magazine, and boasting a year-long waiting list, Catalonia’s El Celler de Can Roca would seem an unlikely candidate for a self-imposed hiatus. Yet restaurateur brothers Josep, Jordi and Joan Roca decided to close up shop for five weeks and take El Celler on the road, chefs, kitchen staff and waiters in tow, on a six-city, four-nation tour that takes in Houston, Dallas, Monterrey, Mexico City, Bogota and Lima. Directors Andrea Gómez and Luis González chronicle this reinvigorating journey of culinary and cultural cross-pollination, with particular focus on the regional cuisines of rural Mexico, Colombia and Peru. It’s a mouthwatering treat for both film and food lovers.
