Mitch Buchannon, the gung-ho leader of the elite Baywatch lifeguard squad, clashes with new recruit Matt Brody, a washed-up pro athlete brought in as the new face of the organization. However, when a dead body is recovered from the ocean, the two must put aside their personal differences and work with their team to stop a criminal mastermind's drug trafficking operation.

Original stars of the TV series, David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, will make cameos in the film.

Here is a rundown of the cast and the characters they play:

Dwayne Johnson as Mitch Buchannon, the overzealous leader of an elite team of lifeguards.

Zac Efron as Matt Brody, a disgraced former Olympian turned lifeguard used as a PR opportunity to restore the team brand.

Priyanka Chopra as Victoria Leeds, the new owner of the Huntley Club suspected of using her business as a front for smuggling drugs.

Alexandra Daddario as Summer Quinn, one of the new recruits along with Matt & Ronnie, tough, brainy, a skilled surfer and the love interest of Matt who will steer him in the right direction.

Kelly Rohrbach as C.J. Parker, Ronnie’s love interest.

Jon Bass as Ronnie, a funny, awkward and a skilled disco dancer at the beach, who falls in love with Parker.

Ilfenesh Hadera as Stephanie Holden, Mitch’s love interest.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Garner Ellerbee, a cool cop who is constantly reminding Mitch that he has no real authority over the bay.

Rob Huebel as Captain Thorpe, Mitch's superior who wants to restore the financially troubled Baywatch program.

You gotta love a red band trailer to really give you an idea for what the film will bring...which is exactly what this red band trailer does.

Before seeing this trailer, Baywatch looked pretty good, and now it looks very entertaining. The blend of comedy and action looks to be on point. They are taking the TV series to a whole new level which has a similar feel to Bad Boys with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

There really has not been a film starring Dwayne Johnson that I have not liked...minus Tooth Fairy. He really has solidified himself as the best likeable action star of today. And in Baywatch, The Rock looks like the perfect fit...he is a badass, he is funny and most importantly he is ripped. Now, the other part of this duo in the film is Zac Efron and he has been hit or miss throughout his career. I really only started to like him as an actor in Neighbors. Based on what we have seen so far in the trailer, Zac also looks like a good fit.

There is one thing missing...where is the slow motion running?

I remember when they first announced they were remaking the Baywatch TV series into a film and I thought it was a terrible idea, but I hate to admit it...I am actually excited to see this. Now lets just hope that this is not another one of those films that looked great in the trailers and disappointed with the final product.
