Release Date for Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 2 Announced

May 5 has been marked in the diary for months as moviegoers eagerly anticipate the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Reuniting the Marvel gang for another adventure with Star-Lord, Gamora, Baby Groot, Drax, Rocket and some new faces in Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone - the stage is set for a potential record breaker at the box office.

But one of the best features of the franchise is not the incredible effects or the cool characters. It is instead the old school soundtrack that fans old and young can sing along to. In that spirit, filmmaker James Gunn took to his Instagram account this week to announce April 28 as the moment the track listing will be made available to the public. One week before the main event!

We know courtesy of the official trailer that Fleetwood Mac's classic tune "The Chain" will be locked in there, but there is great mystery surrounding the remainder of the tracks. While Gunn has teased some inclusions, he will do well to surpass the success of the original as they featured David Bowie, Blue Swede, The Jackson 5, Redbone, 10cc, The Runaways, Raspberries and more.

Such is the anticipation for the soundtrack, it was referenced in the synopsis for the film.

The Not-So Secret 3 Word Script For Vin Diesel

Baby Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy

He might be accustomed to being the face of a franchise as big as The Fast and Furious but when it comes to Marvel, Vin Diesel is seriously sidelined and restrained. Voicing Groot for the first installment, the action star gave a rundown of his involvement in the sequel as he takes on the "challenge" of tackling Baby Groot for movie number two.

"It's very, very challenging because you're limited to three words," Diesel told Total Film. "There's a secret script that I get where it has all of Groot's lines, but the catch of it all is the only was I can say it is: 'I am Groot.'"
