James Corden Joins Female Ensemble Ocean’s Eight

He might best be known for bringing Carpool Karaoke to the American public, but now Englishman James Corden is taking his unique skills set to the production of Ocean's Eight. The Late Late Show with James Corden host has a limited history on the big screen, providing voiceover work for the 2016 animation feature Trolls alongside Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick.

The film from Gary Ross won't debut in cinemas until 8 June, 2018 where the franchise looks to build on the success of the movies starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt. With Damian Lewis coming on board as a villain, Corden will just be another face among the crowd of players. A crowded ensemble including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter.

Corden More Accustomed To The Small Screen

James Corden in Doctor Who

Before taking the hot seat on late night television in 2015, Corden was more comfortable in his home surrounds of England. Where he featured on a number of television projects. Ranging from Doctor Who to Gulliver's Travels and A League of Their Own, the 38-year old comedian's rise will now see him on the big Hollywood stage. Shortly prior to hosting the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. Fans of Corden will be interested to see how he fares away from the desk and the front seat of a car as he plays an insurance investigator.

We have recently been told that this installment is not a complete separation from Ocean's Eleven. As Bullock's character is actually an estranged sister of Clooney's Danny Ocean. The Money Monster actor is expected to appear in a small cameo of the sequel. But there is more. As I Am Sam actress Dakota Fanning and Richard Robichaux have also been cast in untitled roles.

Katie Holmes Spotted On Ocean's Set

Tuesday was a flurry of activity this week for the cast and crew as shooting for Ocean's Eight continues at a healthy pace, only for a certain Katie Holmes to suddenly appear. The Batman Begins actresses' presence took the press by surprise without any news of a casting role being made public. Not that it matters, as Holmes looks prepped for business while holding a fresh cup of coffee.

38-year old Holmes made her professional debut in 1997's The Ice Storm before going on to feature in such productions as Go, The Gift, Thank You For Smoking, First Daughter and The Extra Man.

Yes, there are a collection of bigger names on set. But the former partner of Tom Cruise will be a welcomed addition to a film that will kick some serious female butt!
