Final Wolverine Simply Titled Logan [Updated]

It was only last night when I complained about the lack of updates from the then-untitled Wolverine installment. While discussing another property altogether, Hugh Jackman promised that not only will the final Wolverine installment have a darker tone, but a hint that big updates were coming. With the film's due date set for March 3, 2017, all can agree that the media updates have been long overdue.

And now, less than 24 hours later, we've been hammered with updates for the film. 20th Century Fox has come out of the woodwork to announce the film's official title, Logan. Simple and awesome. Warner Bros is doing the same thing for Affleck's upcoming solo Batman film by naming it The Batman. Both are short, sweet, and still send the message. Fox didn't just do a simple press release either, instead deciding to announce the title with the help of the film's first poster. Wolverine himself helped the promotion, by making an appearance under the giant-sized outdoor version.

Rogue Poster Reveals Name

Hugh Jackman went to his Twitter account to a post a photo of him standing at the corner of Bleecker & Lafayette. While the photo initially doesn't look all that exciting, one just has to look up.

Very cool! The poster is surprisingly powerful and non-comicbook-ee. Showing Logan holding the hand of a child, wowza. Consider us impressed. But there's more!

Logan Screenplay Preview

Logan director James Mangold has gone to his twitter account to show a photo of the second page of the film's script. While the page shows how Hugh Jackman will open the film, it also re-iterates that it is going to be Hard-R.

Ryan Reynolds Gets in on Logan Action

Ryan Reynolds, who has been getting tons of credit for bringing the "R" back to comicbook adaptations, went to Twitter to join in on the fun. This comes as no surprise since Reynolds has a minor obsession with Jackman's Wolverine ever since X-Men: Origins.

Check out what Deadpool had to say about the first poster for Logan.

While the recent array of Logan updates is satisfying, I'm sticking to my guns that a trailer is coming shortly.

Updated: New Plot Details Emerge

So not to have too many Logan updates in a single day, TheWrap has released some new plot details from an undisclosed insider.

In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. We find out about a government-type operation called “Transigen” that is turning mutant children into killing machines. Logan ends up mentoring the girl, who has two claws instead of his three.

If you remember an early set photo showing Wolverine pushing a sickly Professor X in his wheelchair, it would seem that "Sick Charles Xavier" is an important element in the story.

Professor X (Patrick Stewart) is old and not well. His powers are unstable and at times he doesn’t even remember Logan. Stephen Merchant plays the Albino mutant Caliban, who helps Logan take care of Professor X.

Looks like the mutant world is just one big hot mess.
