Doctor Strange Script Receiving Help From Community Creator

Dan Harmon is onboard to help the script-writing process for the new superhero epic Doctor Strange. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the co-creator of the hit comedy television series Community has joined the production's backroom staff. Harmon will give his unique take on the Marvel franchise and potentially offer some out-of-the-box ideas for where the story will eventually go.

Doctor Strange (2016)

At 43, Harmon has limited experience for projects on the big screen. He previously worked on Monster House as well as an uncredited role in Kung Fu Panda, yet it is with the cult hit Community that he is best known for. Although the series was eventually cancelled in 2013 by NBC, Harmon's reputation for scripting edgy satire has enabled him to join the big leagues in cinema.

Marvel Getting Competitive Edge Over DC

As the DC universe continues to struggle to gain critical acclaim for their underwhelming plots and overblown CGI effects. Thanks in large part to Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, Marvel is utilizing the skills of writers from various backgrounds that normally would not fit the superhero film genre.

Anthony and Joe Russo were brought over from Arrested Development to sculpt Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. The pair also happened to be part of Community during it's run on network television with Harmon.

High Expectations For Marvel's Next Installment

The 14th edition of the on-screen Marvel universe will offer the audience something fresh and different given the introduction of a new hero. But that won't dampen the enthusiasm and expectation for a big budget production that promises much. Benedict Cumberbatch's first attempt at playing a superhero will be put to the test as he works with director Scott Derrickson whose history as a writer, producer and director have generally centered around the horror genre.

That may give some insight into the dark tones of the film which will hit cinemas on November 4th this year. Cumberbatch will be joined alongside a strong female cast including the likes of Tilda Swinton and Rachel McAdams. And who knows what other cameos will be in store from the Marvel world?
