Azealia Banks Accuses Russell Crowe Of Choking and Spitting At Her

Billboard reports that Russell Crowe had an eventful evening at his home over the weekend. All ending with rapper Azealia Banks being forced off the premises as all hell broke loose. The young 25-year old rapper took to Facebook the next day to give an account of what went down from her perspective. As expected, it didn't paint a pretty picture for the Gladiator star to say the least.

"To recap my night," began Banks. "I went to a party at Russell Crowe's suite, at which he called me a n*****, choked me, threw me out and spat at me. Last night was one of the hardest sleeps I've had in a long time. The men in the room allowed it to happen. I feel terrible today."

Witnesses Completely Dismiss Banks Recollection

Azealia Banks Russell Crowe Choking

While no one challenges the idea that there was some sort of altercation at Crowe's premises, Banks' Facebook post was dismissed out of hand by eyewitnesses who were there that night. TMZ sources say that Banks arrived with rapper RZA as an uninvited plus one. Being a terrible unexpected guest, she began to insult Crowe and a number of others at the venue. When the "air turned blue" from her threats of physical violence, The Nice Guys star saw it fit to wrap her up in a bear hug and send her packing from the premises.

The straw that broke the camel's back came after Banks exclaimed in paraphrased manner: “You would love it if I broke my glass, stabbed you guys in the throat, and blood would squirt everywhere like some real Tarantino s---."

She obviously missed the 2012 flick The Man with the Iron Fists. Crowe and Quentin are quite familiar with each other's work.

Russell Crowe Choking Incident

This isolated incident appears to have been handled as well as could have been expected under the difficult circumstances. Although the bear hug does seem excessive. But there are only so many times Russell Crowe can cry foul before the "wrong place, wrong time" mantra looks a little outdated. The 52-year old famously assaulted TV executive Malcolm Gerrie (allegedly) and also got into some phone trouble in New York that resulted in an assault charge back in 2005.

We're not saying Russell Crowe made racist remarks or partook in any spitting. Chances are Russell was a gentlemen who did the right thing. But the Beautiful Mind actor does have form with losing his temper.

Maybe ask ahead of time for plus one invitations next time you're invited over to Crowe's joint. It's common courtesy, and best to be on the safe side!
