Aaron Paul Added To Cast Of New Sci-Fi Thriller Android

Things are moving quickly for Aaron Paul. Following on from his starring role as Jesse Pinkman in AMC's breakout smash hit Breaking Bad, putting his signature onto an ambitious project Android. Variety reports that the 37-year old will be joined by French actress and model Olga Kurylenko for the film. It's current status is pre-production, with Niall Johnson having been on board as director.

Produced by Picture Films’ Margot Hand, Android will begin shooting at Infinite Studios in Singapore at the start of 2017, where Fortitude International have the international rights to the flick. Matt O’Reilly is credited with producing the screenplay he co-wrote with director Johnson.

Appears To Be A Reboot Of A 1982 Adaptation

Android Reboot

The synopsis will center around a lonely spaceship orbiting Neptune. All while Paul’s character looks to fulfill his dream to rebuild his dead wife (Kurylenko). Their son also happens to be an android. But, when they begin demanding a life on their own merits, Paul is in danger when all hell breaks loose.

While no official word has been made regarding a reboot, the story is incredibly similar to the 1982 film of the same name. That movie, starring Klaus Kinski and Brie Howard, examined the events of a space station also orbiting the Earth. In the station was a scientist that, you guessed it, was experimenting with an illegal android program.

Need for Speed was something of a false start for the television icon. Since then Aaron Paul has kicked on to establish himself among the top caliber of acting talent. Taking a key role in the 2016 ensemble action thriller Triple 9, the 2015 drama Eye in the Sky and cameos in the 2016 Dwayne Johnson comedy Central Intelligence and the epic Exodus: Gods and Kings, Paul looks part of the furniture as the offers continue to keep rolling in.

Playing a scientist bringing back to life his deceased wife on an isolated station in space is certainly an out-of-the-box opportunity. In a role that seems tailor made for Tom Hanks, Paul should get plenty of screen time. And fans will be chomping at the bit to see how he fares.
