To not only make $783.1m at the box office but maintain a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 84%, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool has received no love for the Academy. As the shortlist of nominations for the Oscars was made public. Prior to the event getting underway in earnest on February 26, the musical drama La La Land has equaled the record for most nominations. Making that 14 in total.
Arrival and Moonlight come in second with eight nods while Mel Gibson's comeback picture of sorts via Hacksaw Ridge is up for six alongside Lion and Manchester by the Sea. Jimmy Kimmel hosts the big night on ABC, with coverage beginning at 5.30pm PT.

Reynolds Gracious Despite Snub
As the Internet was in meltdown mode following the Academy's refusal to give any nominations to Deadpool across any of the major or minor categories, the star himself tweeted out a message of congratulations to the nominees. To make the Marvel fans more infused by the whole situation, Suicide Squad was put up in one category.
